Is Blood Work necessary for your horse?
Yes. Blood work is really important to do–even on a seemingly healthy horse–for 3 reasons. First, your horse's normal is different from another horse's so if he does get ill it's very useful to have his normal to compare to. So blood work is a great investment even for a healthy horse! Second, your horse may not be as healthy as he seems. Underlying disease of organs such as the kidney or liver may not be evident externally in early stages. And finally, if he is sick or not performing optimally it may confirm why and help in assessing response to therapy.
